How to Find Your Minecraft Server Seed

Method 1: Using Server Commands

The simplest way to find your Minecraft server seed is using the /seed command if you have the proper permissions:

  1. Join your Minecraft server
  2. Type /seed in the chat
  3. The seed will appear in chat where you can click to copy it

Method 2: Checking Server Files

If you have access to server files, you can find the seed in:

  1. Open the server.properties file
  2. Look for the "level-seed=" setting
  3. The value after the equals sign is your seed

Important Notes

  • You must have OP/admin permissions to use the /seed command on servers
  • The seed can be found in the level.dat file in your world folder if not specified in server.properties
  • Default seeds are generated based on system time if none was manually set
